This Blog post was written several months ago, but was never posted! So here it is!!
Intimacy vs knowledge is the biggest thing I have been learning so far in 2018. Being someone who struggles with remembering things or memorizing I have always been self conscious when it comes to knowledge in any aspect. But I have learned that, that is not where my worth comes from in any means. I plan on doing a blog over not finding your worth in school so I will elaborate more on that later. This journal entry I am talking about knowledge and intimacy when it comes to Jesus.
The Lord cares about our heart, not necessarily how much we know about Him. That is not to say knowledge about God is not important. It just means we have to check our hearts before anything, and above all else.
You will seek me and find me
when you seek me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13
I find it easy to strive to know more and more about Jesus, rather than getting to know Jesus. Again, it is in no way a bad thing to want to memorize verses and the stories of Jesus. It just becomes harmful when we are doing it to show our knowledge for our glory rather than share this knowledge for Gods glory. Do you know about Jesus, or do you KNOW Jesus and His heart? When your heart is in the right place, you will come to learn that retaining information and scripture becomes a lot easier because your heart is involved. It all goes back to a heart issue. If you are having trouble digging in the word, check your heart and ask God to reveal Himself to you. Prayer is your best weapon when it comes to being a follower of Jesus. Having an intimate relationship with Jesus is the best decision you can make in this life. I find that when I am not consistent in my prayer life, then I struggle to be intimate with the Lord.
Those are just a view of my thoughts on intimacy and knowledge when it comes to your relationship with Jesus. :)
