No Stress, No Stress, No Stress

I dont know about you, but when I read the title, I immediately sing that song by Jesse McCartney. If you don't know what I am talking about.. well then this is awkward. But I think we can all agree that we stress at times, some more than others, but we all stress and it is never a fun thing.

Do not be anxious about anything,

but in every situation, by prayer and

petition, with thanksgiving, present

your requests to God.

Philippians 4:6

I find that I am less stressed when I apply a few simple things to my daily routine:

1) First a foremost before anything else, spend time with Jesus. Not just a quick verse of the day, but having an intimate prayer life, and truly diving in scripture with the desire to want to know Him more. When you do this, later in the day when you are stressed out about something, you will have a peace you would not have had otherwise. By being with God in the early hours of the morning, it can shape your entire attitude towards the day. If you struggle with anxiety and stress, make it your daily prayer. I promise you will see results eventually if you submit to God in your struggles.

2) Journal! I don't mean the type of journal where you say "dear diary, I have a crush on billy bob" but the kind where you write out prayers, a journal where you write out your thoughts and you bring them before the Lord. Christ wants to know your inner most thoughts. Writing is a great way to relieve stress for yourself, and it is also a good way to grow more madly in love with Jesus. There is something so special about putting pen to paper, it is a lost art I think we need to make more prevalent in todays generation. Take time to be still enough to listen what God is calling you to or from. We can worry so much about our future when a big part of the problem is we are trying to do it without involving our God!

3) Have a planner/organizer! I love writing in my daily/monthly planner for 2018, it really helps me to not be all over the place, but to have everything in one place. Google calendar is a great online resource to use if you don't like having a physical planner. If you happen to be an organizational nerd like me, you use both an online and paper planner. It helps me not to be flaky with plans, or double book babysitting jobs. It also helps me remember important dates coming up, such as people birthdays, a fun get together, or meetings!

It is incredibly easy these days to get overwhelmed with the struggles of life. Whatever you are stressed over, bring it to the Lord! I know that is easier said than done, but that is why I gave three ways to help reduce stress. I used to stress about every little detail in my day, but as I have grown closer to Jesus, my small worries have seemed to fade away.
