Do your past mistakes come back to haunt you and make you feel less than worthy? Do you wonder if you are too broken for Jesus?
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
And saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Psalm 34:18
He heals the brokenhearted
And binds up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3
I find myself being reminded of past hurt or past mistakes and it can start to consume my thoughts and become overwhelming. I begin thinking about how much I have hurt God by disobeying Him in all sorts of ways. Being broken is to have damage, and we all have things we are not proud of. But God says He is near to the brokenhearted!
Bear with each other and forgive one
another if any of you has a grievance
against someone. Forgive as the Lord
forgave you.
Colossians 3:13
Something I have learned is you have to learn to forgive yourself. It is evident that Jesus forgives us, so why can't we forgive ourselves? Why can't we trust that Jesus can restore our soul? We need to pray for forgiveness and once we do, we also need to forgive ourselves. It is hard to move on from something if you have not forgiven yourself or another person.
“Because this is war. The fight of your life. A very real enemy has been strategizing and scheming against you, assaulting you, coming after your emotions, your mind, your man, your child, your future. In fact, he’s doing it right this second. Right where you’re sitting. Right where you are.” -Priscilla Shirer
Everyday will be a battle as a follower of Christ. Do not let the enemy tell you that you are not worthy of Jesus. We can have that relationship with Him because of the cross. Do not think you are too broken to have a relationship with the one who created you. God is waiting for the moment you decide to surrender your life fully to Him.
