Recently, I was told by someone that my testimony was a yellow flag to them. And a lot of thoughts went through my head when I read that over a text. Anger, shame, and frustration are just a few. I thought to myself, well maybe I should be ashamed of my testimony. I thought, how can someone ever love me with a testimony like mine?
But all at once I was reminded that my testimony is not a yellow flag. No, in fact it is a white flag. My mom sent me this text and I thought I would share to encourage those who are ashamed of their own testimony or past:
"Your flag isn’t yellow, it’s white.
Yellow flags mean proceed with
caution, not being fully engaged out
of fear or judgement. Your flag is white,
because a white flag used in battle
means surrender. Your flag is white
because you’ve surrendered your life
to Jesus and you know you need Him
for every battle. It’s white because you
surrender your story bravely for His purposes
to help others. There’s no yellow in being
honest and open with your story. Your flag
is white because you strive to surrender your
days, your school, your jobs, your
relationships, and your time to Jesus.
If someone sees a yellow flag, they’re
not seeing you correctly. Let your white
flag fly high! 🏳️"
So if you are someone ashamed of your testimony, don't be! Of course, that is easier said than done. But, do not let your past sin overwhelm you with fear when we should be using our struggles for His glory. I know for me, I have been able to share my testimony with many young girls and I have seen how it brings God the glory. Do not be ashamed of what God has done in your life.
