What I Have Learned About Wearing Makeup.

I love wearing makeup, it is something that is fun for me. It is something I enjoy doing, and it makes me feel better most of the time. But as I started spending more time in scripture I was convicted that I was caring too much about my appearance and not enough about what my heart looked like. With all that being said here is what I have learned:
I think all girls can get too obsessive over how they look sometimes, myself included. Especially in the time of social media it is so easy to feel the need to perfect yourself physically. I do not think wearing makeup is wrong, in fact, I wear it most days. But I had to learn that makeup is for enhancing your skin rather than hiding your flaws. Besides, I hear guys don't even like a lot of makeup anyways ;) There is nothing wrong with wanting to look good. However, it becomes a heart problem when that is what we center our world around. Don't be thinking that guy you like will be noticing your perfectly sculpted eyebrows or your perfect winged eyeliner and smoky eye, cause truth is they do not care. If you wear makeup, do it for the right reasons!
Heart Check:
If you woke up late and only had ten minutes to get ready would you spend your time in prayer or would you spend it making sure you looked your best?
Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.
